Flow's reply is correct. You could have fucked up your leg in your sleep and it worked it's way into your dream.
Like when you dream that you're fighting someone, and you can't punch because you're sleepin on your front and your mattress wont budge. but while you're dreaming, your head doesn't know that.

Death is the only certainty. EVERYTHING else is variable.

So you can remember a dream? Most people remember a dream they had doesnt mean it really happened. If you got shot in a dream, your not gonna wake up with a gun shot wound, are you? If you broke your leg in a dream, your leg isnt going to be broke when you wake up isit? Thinking that things that happen in a dream, really happen in this world is stupid.weedguru_animal wrote:does it not seem more logical that i got shot twice in some other dimension as when i woke up i had these exact recollections??or you think my brain created them quickly cos it somehow felt like it needed to give an excuse for maliciously twisting and strecthing my leg, whilst keeping me fast asleep???i hadnt considered that very seriously i suppose..

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

That's being a little ignorant Tweedle. From what I've read Animal never got his leg checked out by a doctor or anything, and with no bruises or gunshot wounds but only ghostly pain. Technically something could have happened, and his brain was just thinking he had these wounds and was therefore causing the pain, or maybe not causing but recieving impulses from the nerves somehow. Maybe his neural pathways got stuck in a loop and were continually signalling pain in his two major leg muscles. Obviously one would wake up if they broke their leg in their sleep, but you might not wake if your unconscious mind retained your state of slumber acting as a painkiller until you wake up normally, and can figure out how to numb the pain while concious.tweedle wrote:So you can remember a dream? Although I do admit you could have just slept funny and twisted you spine or displaced a disc or vertebrae slightly which caused nerves to pinch which happened to be connected to those muscles in your leg. Could have even been just a subtle movement you made. Although why you dreamt of being shot in the leg eludes me. You say you're usually running alot in your dreams so that's kinda suspicious (maybe not the right word to use) that you were running again in this dream only to get shot twice in the leg.
Dreams are pretty confusing somtimes.

Its not ignorant at all. A dream can be as real as sitting here and looking at wedguru but the thing is its not real. If you think hurting yourself in a dream can give you bruise or something in the real world then you are stupid. Dreams are in your head, nothing in a dream can affect you in the real world. If you wake up and you feel a pain, there is a logical explanation for it.

What about when you dream you're drowning or takin a piss and you wake up and your makin a lake in your boxspring? Dreams are obviously connected in some way to the real living breathing world. To say the reality of yours and my waking space and the reality of our dreamscapes have nothing whatsoever to do with relating to eachother is a stubborn, simple and very linear form of thinking. You dream about things that happen to you in real life, wether it happens after reality has transpired or prior to. So it would only be logical that dreams can somewhat work in reverse, and have an effect on the waking world. Obviously not all the time, but perhaps dreams can get to a point where they spill over into the conscious realm. The sensation of being shot in the leg, since Animal said he finds himself living the dream, felt so real that his neurons "short circuited" and his subconcious fully believed there were two bullet holes in his leg that had to be healed even though nothing was wrong.

Ok so you have a dream about peeing yourself and you wake up and youve made a mess. It doesnt mean that because in your dream you peeed yourself. Dreams can be altered by things happening around you in real life. For example you could be sleeping and I could play some music, you could be hearing this music in your dream, its stupid to think that because something happened inside the dream it will effect you in real life. If something happened in read life, it can effect your dream. Its all in the mind
I dont know If that made sense, it did to me but if it didnt, ill try and explain better

That is true, they so say Mind over Matter, and it is true. But if the real world effects dreams, then why's it stupid to believe in the possibility that dreams can, adversly, have an effect on the real world in a similar fashion?

But it's your mind that tells you what to do when you're awake. Then would that mean it's reality that tells your mind what to do when you're asleep? Some people dream about the future though and have visions. Although I'm not presuming to say that these dream visions change reality to the dreamer's nightsight but they're obviously connected somehow. Even if dreams don't always have anoticable effect on reality it has to have some effect. Even if it is just all in your head.

You just hit the nail right on the head. Its exactly that All In your head. There is nothing else to it. If a plate is dropped in a dream, its not going to be broke when you wake up. If you kill someone in a dream, they are still going to be alive when you wake up. A dream can not effect the real worldZen wrote:But it's your mind that tells you what to do when you're awake. But that's actually not true at all. People who suffer from lycanthropy have dream of becomming an animal and proceed to run about in their sleep acting as primal as the animal they are dreaming of. And I think you're thinking too basically about this Tweedle. No if you break a plate in a dream a plate won't be broke in life unless you are sleep walking or something. But perhaps that plate represents something. Like your mother's china (don't ask just came to my head). Her china can represent her sentiment or an object of affection. That perhaps you hold a part of... it could symbolize you somehow breaking or shattering that emotion she holds. The rest of the dream could be possible situations that would follow, of course it would all be metaphorical. Do you see what I'm gettin at? It could have a thousand different meanings.

Maybe not directly. But dreams can cause you to talk or shout or do lots of things in your sleep because of the fact that it seems so real. What's to stop the "reality" (I use the term reality in quotes relatively) of a gunshot wound to the leg in your dream to carry over into conscious reality if it was experienced within an extremely "realistic" sequence of a dream. Obviously if you dream yourself as a woman havin sex with a guy and then becoming pregnant, you're not going to be a pregneant woman when you wake up.
