Hey man. I agree, when you get the news, it makes for the worst day ever. I'm so sorry for what happened and what you'll be going through. Especially seeing him like that - very traumatic. Experiencing and remembering something like that is very difficult. Be good to yourself right now - you need a lot of rest and time for reflection. Also, I'm concerned about your poor mother. I hope you two can console eachother and help eachother through this difficult, sad time.
I almost feel like crying - why does death hurt so bad? Why can't we just be assured that everything is going to be okay on the other side? I believe we'll see them again, but I can't prove it. Why do good people, who are so needed, have to die - while rotten assholes still enjoy the breath of life?
Nobody is safe. Any. fucking. moment - YOU could wake up to the worst day you never thought could happen to you. Mom, dad, sibling, grandparents, friends, teachers - that guy you just met. Don't wait until it happens to you to tell them and treat them like the precious, loved people that they are, deep down, even if you hate them sometimes.
I really feel for you, man. I encourage you to write about your dad, especially now while your memory is fresh. He fades, from this point on, lives only in the memories of those he left behind.
Take care, you'll be in my thoughts.
PS - I don't know if this will help, but I've thought an awful lot about proving the continuity of the human soul, and why I believe in it. I want to see them again.
