If you're gonna have sex without contraception and screw it up (pun not intended), you should bear the consequences.

But what if a woman gets raped and is impregnated? I think she should have every right to have an abortion.

i dont think any one can truly comment on something like this unless theyv been in this situation. we all say wot we'd do, but in the situation things r much different.

Im all for free choice and who wants a child brought up when u totally regret it, i have never had a abortion and hope i never have to make that choice. My younger sisters best friend was pushed into one by her parents when she was 14 and she has never been the same since. She has suffered with constant kidney problems since and will not leave the house if not needed. But she had NO choice her parents totally took over. Im all for CHOICE!!!

i'm with exreme on this one it is all about the choice of the parents but mainly it is the mother choice as she is the one who actually has 2 have the abortion. If the parents want 2 get rid of it well they can if they want

I realize this is the subject of much controversy, and many points in my argument may be misproven. All that aside, personally, I think abortion is wrong. First of all, if a woman becomes impregnated because of careless casual sex, it would be normal to say that she (and the father) should have to bear the consequences of the actions. However, that does seem a bit harsh. I also believe that if a woman does not want to or is not ready to raise a child, then rather than putting a stop to a potentially beautiful life, it would be much more humane to have the child and send it to an orphanage. That could be wrong too, as living a life without knowing who your true parents are can be very psychologically damaging. Therefore, the most viable solution would be to leave it up to the child, which obviously cannot be done. Hence, the controversy.

Godhand i do agree with you like i said out Choice, who is the sole person who chooses. most times its for the childs best intrest not to come into the world as u pointed out. Then should it be the mother and fathers choice yes whats best for the parents, also a problem there one person wants the hild the other doesn't, of course the mother has the most right seeing as she is carrying the child, but the father also has a say in this too the child is half his. Its very controversal!!

Undoubtedly. As someone stated before me, until you are actually in the position of having a child you don't want and can't afford (either financially or for other reasons) you have no real right to deny these people their right to an abortion. America was founded on choice and freedom.

I've heard almost every possible argument for and against abortion, and what it boils down to is its an OPINION and there IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG. People will never choose one or the other, and so I don't post here to try to convince those against abortion that it should be allowed. I think you guys are wrong, though, and you are imposing something similar to a jail sentance on any woman who accidentally gets pregnant. Children can ruin lives.

No, people didn't choose. Its called a MAJORITY. At one point there was a majority vote for allowing abortions.

That doesn't mean that everyone chose being for abortion. As the battle still rages, there are obviously a great deal many people who decided otherwise.

Since the turnout in the elections for you guys is small I guess that not even the majority have decided also (from what I gather) your using the fptp (first past the post) electoral system which isnt proportionate to the amount of votes cast either then that wont help. But if you all want to make the difference and feel so close to this subject then get your voting fingers out and do it next time

being a mum myself i think alot of it is down to circumstance.
If a young girl is raped/abused at a young age why put her through all that misery of watching her body change and then becoming a mum, But on the other side of the debate where i grew up in York in the UK ,loads of young ladies used abortion as a form of contraception.

when i first heard my baby's heart beat she was only 10 wks old and it really fucked my head knowing she was living and growing inside me and to think that people have terminations past 10 wks. Again it all depends on the cicumstance around the pregnancy.
