Well.. it depends how you perceive it and what you base your opinion on with.
I was exactly like ctcf before i get my own birth chart done.

His reply is the reason why i don't want to argue about it really, it's a common point of view on zodiac from someone who is not informed about it that i've heard a thousands of time before.
.. You got to realise it yourself to understand it can be accurate..
otherwise your opinion will always be biased and rely on commercial zodiac that you read in magazine and book wich is random bullshit in my opinion.

By the way ctcf, what's your sign ? haha

people come by and post huge post without specifying their sign =(

Carl Sagan and Johannes Kepler repudiate the zodiac. Therefore, so do I. To me, belief in the zodiac dishonors brilliant men like this who have worked so vehemently to discover and share knowledge of the cosmos... Just the way I feel. Fortune cookies.

I am not going to debate any of this as the cosmos or whatever seem to have a stranglehold on some peoples minds in here and it would get me as far in an arguement as telling someone that their god is nonexistent.....

Regardless we all have personal beliefs about our existence and if this makes an inividual feel more at ease with their inner psyche, than more power to them. I on the other hand will put my faith and beliefs into a less metaphysical and existential realm of thought, something with a little more gravity (for lack of a better term).
Really, CTCF, you have, said that astrology is bullshit, then explained that you want get into discussion about it as you will end up saying something like 'its all bullshit'...What does astrology have to do with hippies??? I often enjoy your posts, as you generally put a lot of effort, or have a natural potency, for expressing yourself clearly...but...from reading your scientific efforts in the literal lines forum, its clear that you naturally enjoy speaking in solely solid scientific terms, of matters which can be proven beyond any doubt. Tangibles, not intangibles are your game. And that is fair enough.

The cosmos has a strangehold on all of us, as we are part of it. It is bigger than us, and more unfathomable, and unprovable, to even your science-orientated kin. That is not to say that the stars and universe as a whole control us, but in scientific terms, we NEED the cosmos, much more than the cosmos seems to need US. And it seems magically exciting to ponder that our lives are mapped out loosely in some way in the dark skies above.

Showing an intrigue in astrology does not make me feel more at eas with my inner psyche. How would it??? I did not listen to my friends explanation of my birth chart, and respond...
'oh how amazing!!!! now that i know that even the stars say that i am fucked up, I feel so much more at peace!!!!!'...of course I am sure that some people use it as a crutch, like christians use christianity. But I do not. And neither did my star gazing brother, John the baptist. As I explained above...the ONLY times I have found anything substantially exciting about astrology was when I have been involved with the analysis of birth charts. And yes, I fully stand by my conclusion, that there is a much larger amount of suggestiveness, from my chart, which is incredibly accurate, not just about my character, but my life path to this point, than there is which is completely innacurate. You could show the standard explanations of my chart to my close friends, not telling them who you were talking off, and they would all suggest it was me. Does that prove to me that astrology is an explanation for my existence? NO...but its certainly worthy of my intrigue. As it would clearly take modern medicine and psychotherapy, much longer, to offer the same suggestions of my character and as for my life path...they would need me to tell them.

As far as I understand, astrology is used as a guide, by the truly qualified, as a set of suggestions. NOT as a be all and end all record of past, present and future. What I have been wanton to do for many years is to get the birth chart of a non human animal in a household, a dog or cat perhaps, a creature whose character is delineated well enough to show Character. Is there anyone here who knows the time and place of birth of one of their non human companions????
Sciene is far from beyond proving the absolute, science in effect is a discipline that keeps falling back on itself and building up. In a way it can be comparable to the formation of the tallest mountain that was ever formed from lava. A discovery is made and our base of knowledge grows by a little bit, scientific discovery carries on, and again their is another eruption covering up the old land mass with new freshly brazen information. This information sits for a while and BOOM it happens all over again. That is the beuaty of science it propels us further and further into new discoveries which collapse upon, then build themselves back on top of each other. And every time we think we have hit a milestone that cannot be surpassed by future thought....we do! It may be a matter of days or it may be a matter of years but ultimately humankind comes one step closer to completing the jigsaw puzzle that will throughout the rest of the history of mankind elude us, because there is far more unknown than their is known and the only way to answer these questions is to think logically and pursue your passion, in my case brain science. Will I ever have all the answers? No, probably not even 1% of the answers. WIll I have an understanding that surpasses that of many layman who study other things? Of course, by about 99%. Likewise though the chemists, biologists, environmentalists, astronomists, and others will have tenfold the information that I have. It is through a never ending contextual form of discourse that I believe we will find advancements in the human race either for the good or for the bad.

As far as hippies and your inner psyche. Well the hippie thing was more or less an analogy, I know that people of all sorts and kinds believe in astrology, hippies included and all sorts of people do not believe in astrology, hippies included. Same goes for the inner psyce, some people take this stuff and treat it as if their entire fate and lives come down to the phenomena of astrology, which affects their inner psyches. Others do this for fun and take only a semi partial hold of the truth on the matter and it affects their inner psyches little if it all, I was targeting no one in specific and it was a generalization to those that do. No harm intended to anyone I may have upset.

As far as astrology guides go, I imagine if I were to see mine I would be able to pick things out of it that did match my personality and things that did not match my personality and I'm sure I could do this for every sign there is, regardless of which month I am born into. Again, this is just my personal thoughts on the matter and perhaps Mate is correct, because I have no taken the time to go through with this, perhaps I am missing out on something and I agree I am in no position to start an arguement here, just carry on with my beliefs I suppose.

Mate just for you, I'm a sagittarius if you can make any sense from it then please be my guest.

Animal, when I post in the literal lines section I am posting material that I am good at writing and take pride in writing. I feel that I am a good scientific writer and felt that, if there was a place to put up my science writings than the literal lines section would be the place. I still have a fiery passionate side that is nothing but CHRIS when it comes to writing, but I do enjoy looking up material and putting it into a formal document. If this upsets anyone I can stop submitting my essays there and keep them on my desktop, but I think some of that information must be relevant to someone else out there. I am capable of having a debate based purely on my passionate desire to write without need for scientific discourse, if I so desire.

Geminis unite!!!! June 3rd, 1985. It was a good year, IMO

I never thought that I would live to see the day when i get to quote a modern day musical masterpiece , but to quote the great Chris Rock's "No Sex In the Champagne Room"

Aquarius: You're gonna die
Capricorn: You're gonna die
Gemini: You're gonna die TWICE
Leo: You're gonna die

As I have mentioned several times; your SUN sign, in astrology, is ONE element of the birth chart. It is an important sign, as the sun is an important celestial entity, but without looking at the other elements, of which there are many, and then how those elements interact with each other, what houses they sit in...you cannot have even a basic idea of what kind of character you are dealing with. astrology does not suggest that ALL aquarians are this way inclined, ALL taureans that way disposed...Yes, there are common traits in each sun sign, but they either rise and fall, in how much they show themselves, dependent on the other planets in the chart, and their houses, and they way they all interact...I have often found it interesting, that two men who have been brotherly to me for many many years, were born, 6 and 7 days before me. One of them the same year as me, the other 10 years before me.
For some people the sun sign is incredibly powerful...Seems to be often the case with geminis, and Leos....

ANyway, if you desire to delve into astrology, make sure you check out the birth charts, NOT the local tabloid horoscopes that suggest 'all sagitarians will come into some money, burst into tears, and then cut their neighbours throat with a carving knife...'.
