I have always held an interest in the paranormal, which, for me, includes astrology, though the astrologically inclined would likely take offence at my classification of their 'science' into the realms of table-tapping, remote viewing, palmistry and a myriad of other areas which ALL, seem far beyond the widely accepted sense of NORMAL. I did have my birthchart drawn and explained to me when I was a nipper, but it wasn't until a few years back, that I found myself in the constant company of the truest and most beautiful soul I had ever known, who just happened to have a consuming interest in astrology. Such is my ego...my demand for attention...as can be explained in my chart...to gain my interest, John, my star gazing brother, used my birth chart as a basis for his studies, alongside his chart, and the women I was chasing, or had been with for lengthy periods. I was shocked, as queasy and fearful spiritually as excited, to find a staggering amount of accuracy in John's explanations of not just my character of the then NOW, but of my life as a whole. He suggested traumatic events, for the exact periods when i suffered savagely. He rounded my character, my main facets, LONG before we had spent enough time together for him to have seen me that clearly.

I used to think it was ridiculous for people to read the tabloid horoscopes and take meaning or value from them, for how the fuck could millions of taurans or gemini people have similar passages on the same day??? THAT was always too much for me. But as John explained...that IS bullshit, as the SUN sign is but one of MANY facets of a persons chart, character, life story, existence. And without taking the rest of the planets positions at birth, and the way they interact, into account, horoscopes are meaningless. Its not just the planetary alignment, its also the houses they fall in...for instance, I have my SUn, my Mercury, and my Mars ALL in the twelfth house...Now, on top of this, I need to look at:
# Mercury in the Twelfth House 12th hs
# Mercury in Aquarius
# Sun Conjunct Mercury
# Mercury Conjunct Ascendant
# Mercury Conjunct Mars
# Mercury Square Midheaven
# Mercury Square Uranus
# Moon Trine Mercury
# Mercury Trine Pluto
# Mercury Sextile Neptune

All of which have meaning. And that is just one house, and the three planets in that house.

John used to say...that the stars are a guide, not a definition. They can explain, they can suggest, but they cannot predict the future, other than in terms of testing periods and less testful periods. And...I came to agree with him.

I will write more on this matter in the near future, but as to what am I, birth chart wise???? Briefly...I have intensity in the twelfth house, which I can explain, in very basic terms, but its better to use someone more qualified and eager for understand that realm than me, to give you an idea:

The Twelfth House has a terrible reputation. It is here that astrologers look to find restrictions, hidden enemies (as opposed to open enemies, shown by the seventh house), psychological problems, and of course the killer --- self undoing, the tendency to do ourselves in. Any planet in this house represents something we are hiding from the world, and, frequently, from ourselves as well. Of course knowing about a problem is the first step to deal with it. The vast majority of horoscopes that I’ve seen with several planets in the twelfth house belong to sensitive, caring people who put up with a lot garbage from others. The rest are horoscopes of serial killers and mass murderers.

Sun in 12th house

There is the desire or the need to serve others in this lifetime. At
times this is in direct conflict with a desire to seek seclusion from
the world and/or wallow in self-pity seeking sympathy and service from
others. This life may be a contemplative life due to the need to
reshape negative character traits from past lives. You have an
awareness of the oneness of life. You may lack confidence in your
abilities. You have an empathy with sick or mentally disturbed
people. You may develop or have clairvoyant powers and an interest in
occult subjects and psychic phenomena. You may enjoy playing the
martyr.

Mercury in 12th house
You have a perceptive, intuitive and subtle mind with an interest in
the metaphysical world. You can absorb knowledge intuitively and you
understand more than you wish to divulge. You are secretive and have
the ability to understand the deeper meanings of tones of voice and
hand gestures. Secret enemies may try to undo you or speak evil of
you. You may lack confidence in yourself. You may find yourself
limited or incapacitated if you allow your nerves to become too
frayed. Be careful of your ears and your hearing, which may be weak.

mars in the 12th
Mars is the archetypal warrior, representing the ability to set boundaries, be self-assertive, get angry when necessary. People with a 12th house Mars often have difficulty going after what they want. They’re outwardly gentle and agreeable, for the most part lacking Mars’ sharp attacks. You can cross them several times and get no reaction, but one day, someone, possibly you, will receive a full-blown Mars explosion. The 35-year-old computer programmer will disappear and a 2-year-old in tantrum will take his place. But the person acting out won't know what hit you. He may have sent you vicious emails, vilified your name in the public square, but when it’s time for an apology, he’ll brush it off. To truly regret his actions, his 12th house Mars would have to reach consciousness first.

To confirm, to the many on here who don't know me...and pleasebear in mind, that i am pinning myself to probably MORE negative traits mentioned above, than POSITIVE traits. Empathy for the disturbed, a tendency to play the martyr, capable and inquisitive mind, extremely responsive to tones and body language, limited and incapaciated by my nervous system, wretched ears, generally gentle but allows steam to build before exploding with rage...ALL of that is extremely correct.

Ok, thats the basic explanations of my twelfth house...but there is more to that house...just from those planets positions in regards to the others..but no need to delve deeper presently.

stick your details into http://www.astro.com

and study the explanations...also...from using the information given from the chart, like 'mars in the 12th house' and 'mercury square jupiter', correlate the explanations on that site, with others...

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we would all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills, and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Perhaps I should have been more clear...you need your birth time, birth date, and birth place...If you aren't willing to peek at your birthchart, then don't bother at all with astrology. For focusing solely on your Sun sign, leads you to...nothing.

I just thought of something.. what if your personality was partially developed based on not where the planets were aligned.. but what time during the season it is? Like if being born in the summer would make a person slightly different compared to a person in the winter. There are slight chemical changes your body produces in the change of seasons AND you have a little bit of a different mindset.. not enough for it to change a full adult or even a kid.. but when the baby is spending it's whole life building his life off of those minute details for those few weeks or months, it makes a huge, yet subtle impact for their personality.

I have another theory too that changes the significance of the planets..what if it wasn't based on the planets aligned.. but yet... your parents and how they act. You learn subconsciously how to think and understand situations mainly through observing peers and your parents. I've noticed a LOT that kids traits end up being linked up directly to their home life and how their parents act.

Also certain parts of peoples personalities are innate where they basically just get it passed on by their parents through birth, not through adaption through cognition. Honestly, I think there are WAY too many variables that are way more influential than with the planets alignments. If I could even put a percentage on it, I would say that the zodiac signs have a 1-3% influence on personality if my first theory isn't correct or even partially correct. Actually.. the more I think about it, the more my first theory seems relevant to what you are talking about. I'm not sure exactly how the whole astrological system works, but the specific time/location seems like it may have a big enough effect on such a YOUNG and adaptive baby for it to make some slight possible significance

What defines season is the same thing that defines your zodiac sign.
The perfect pattern of our planet around the sun.

and mostly every aspect of your birthdate(including the season) are already explained in your horoscope.

you're right on one point tho.

Parent's zodiac signs is a huge factor that will influence your personallity, my parents are Libra, Cancer/Capricorn, Virgo.
it would've not be the same if they were Virgo/Gemini for example.

it is what makes us all definitly unique tho.

This astrology business is a complete load of hippie bullshit. I am not going to debate any of this as the cosmos or whatever seem to have a stranglehold on some peoples minds in here and it would get me as far in an arguement as telling someone that their god is nonexistent.....

Regardless we all have personal beliefs about our existence and if this makes an inividual feel more at ease with their inner psyche, than more power to them. I on the other hand will put my faith and beliefs into a less metaphysical and existential realm of thought, something with a little more gravity (for lack of a better term).

Really, CTCF, you have, said that astrology is bullshit, then explained that you want get into discussion about it as you will end up saying something like 'its all bullshit'...What does astrology have to do with hippies??? I often enjoy your posts, as you generally put a lot of effort, or have a natural potency, for expressing yourself clearly...but...from reading your scientific efforts in the literal lines forum, its clear that you naturally enjoy speaking in solely solid scientific terms, of matters which can be proven beyond any doubt. Tangibles, not intangibles are your game. And that is fair enough.

The cosmos has a strangehold on all of us, as we are part of it. It is bigger than us, and more unfathomable, and unprovable, to even your science-orientated kin. That is not to say that the stars and universe as a whole control us, but in scientific terms, we NEED the cosmos, much more than the cosmos seems to need US. And it seems magically exciting to ponder that our lives are mapped out loosely in some way in the dark skies above.

Showing an intrigue in astrology does not make me feel more at eas with my inner psyche. How would it??? I did not listen to my friends explanation of my birth chart, and respond...
'oh how amazing!!!! now that i know that even the stars say that i am fucked up, I feel so much more at peace!!!!!'...of course I am sure that some people use it as a crutch, like christians use christianity. But I do not. And neither did my star gazing brother, John the baptist. As I explained above...the ONLY times I have found anything substantially exciting about astrology was when I have been involved with the analysis of birth charts. And yes, I fully stand by my conclusion, that there is a much larger amount of suggestiveness, from my chart, which is incredibly accurate, not just about my character, but my life path to this point, than there is which is completely innacurate. You could show the standard explanations of my chart to my close friends, not telling them who you were talking off, and they would all suggest it was me. Does that prove to me that astrology is an explanation for my existence? NO...but its certainly worthy of my intrigue. As it would clearly take modern medicine and psychotherapy, much longer, to offer the same suggestions of my character and as for my life path...they would need me to tell them.

As far as I understand, astrology is used as a guide, by the truly qualified, as a set of suggestions. NOT as a be all and end all record of past, present and future. What I have been wanton to do for many years is to get the birth chart of a non human animal in a household, a dog or cat perhaps, a creature whose character is delineated well enough to show Character. Is there anyone here who knows the time and place of birth of one of their non human companions????
