Thinking about...
quitting. Smoking that is. I don't want to stop pushing cause it's good money, but I feel I'm at the point where I'm smoking entirely too much, and I feel like it's effecting my everyday life. For those of you that have quit and/or taken long periods of time off, what did you guys do to help you keep from smoking?

Charlie, it's tough to do that when there's between .5 and 1 lb sitting in front of you.
Beavis I think I'm gonna go about it the way you did. Cold turkey. I smoked the last bowl and a half of what I had leftover from a big bag, and I think that was my last time for a while. It's a shame. I love to do it a little too much I guess.

I haven't picked up weed since last sunday (not 2 days ago) and thats the longest I have ever went. I usually buy a quarter a week, but I just went a whole week without buying a quarter...part of it is because I wasn't getting stoned really anymore, and another part of it is that I have to pay for school and just couldn't afford the 50 bucks a week.
Having said that, I have smoked like 5 times since running out of weed so it isn't that big of deal...but financially I'm proud of my self-restraint. I guess my education really is important to me..

It's all about self control. I find that I don't have the urge to smoke throughout the day anymore. Usually I get home spark a bowl and go to sleep. If I have things to do I don't smoke, simple as that. Once you get through a week of not being constantly stoned you'll see it's the best way to do things. Don't let the presence of weed make you smoke, get high when you have the time to relax and sit back.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

make a jar. everytime you smoke, drop a dollar or two in it and at the end of every month donate that to a worthy cause or church chairity (if u believe in that)......that way, when you smoke, atleast you feel good, but it deters you cause its money you could be saving

Actually, the gum thing is mostly an oral fixation. That's the main reason people addicted to cids revert to gum, they have an oral fixation
On that note, get your minds out of the gutter.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, my quitting, I quit last year from the end of August until the first week in December, and had no problem at all doing it. However, this time I have much better access.
Also Charlie, with my situation at my school, I live in an apartment that I can smoke anywhere in, bed, living room, back porch, etc. etc. And when you're in school, especially far away from home like I am with a lot of free time, I have too many reasons to smoke rather than not.

Well the first 2 weeks are the roughest, once the THC gets out of your system you lose the urge to get high. Then if you go for a month or two you start getting these weird dreams where your smoking weed. At least that's how it was for me.Eugene wrote:Also Charlie, with my situation at my school, I live in an apartment that I can smoke anywhere in, bed, living room, back porch, etc. etc. And when you're in school, especially far away from home like I am with a lot of free time, I have too many reasons to smoke rather than not.
And to birdie, if you're quitting just because you tolerance is high then just try taking a few days off. If your involved in any physical activities a few days is all it will take to get your tolerance down.
