Jobs
Just out of curiosity, I would like to know what kind of jobs you guys have and what kinds you would like to have.
I want to be a psychologist, but not the shrink kind. I want to study humans and their minds. I want to know why we have intelligence and why we have fear. Of course, I probably won't end up there for a long time.

Re: Jobs
i do wanna be the shrink kind, hopefully a counsellor. at the mo im in my last year of school, about to spend a gap year working as a consellor/mentor for kids at the school im currently at, before going to uni to study psychology with either sociology or counselling skills, depending on where i go. as far as a job at the moment goes i work in a department store, selling handbags (but actually as a seller, as opposed to just sitting on a till). all is good.Darth Inhaler wrote: I want to be a psychologist, but not the shrink kind. I work for a super-annuation company (pensions) in a big skyscraper in the city of Melbourne, Australia..I hate the actual work. It drives me insane as do the majority of the suits and tight short skirts that also work in this massive beehive..The job itself is high speed data entry. Pay is good at 18.50/ hour and the schedule of mon-friday 10am-6pm is hardly gruelling, though i despise commuting in and out of the city centre...fucking 5 km trip takes 45mins-1 hour.
The only reason I am forcing myself to continue this job is because I am saving up for my return to the UK which should materialize sometime between mid July and mid-August of this year. I needa certain amount of cash to0 be able to buy a old-ish cbr600 and also a journalism course. The latest- in a long line of failed dreams- is to engage in a determined fashion to equip myself with the minimum qualifications which will help me become a paid writer. Probably a football journalist, though I find writing more personal 90%fact/10%exxageration far more exciting than football. Its more a simple case of options and availability of work..I have always had a serious passion for football, als motoribke, beautiful women, weed, travelling and music, BUT it is football which offers the greatest chance of success because football is part of everyday Life for a crazy % of the population of the UK (and of the world), so it makes sense that there would bemore written about football than the othr subjects I listed as my passions, so more potential jobs...
Upon returning to the UK, I plan to try rejoin Tesco or Sainsburys as a fishmonger(the position I have worked most regulalry throughout my work-history) in Brighton or Hove (east Sussex)... I have always enkoyed the fishman role as it offers the chance for relaxed social interaction with strangers/regulars.. I used the fish counter as a base for my social studies and interaction creating a colourful mix of freinds/acquaintances/enemies/ladyfreinds in every area I have been plying my trade as the man of the sea......It isnt that I enjoy filetting/skinning/steaking/boning marie life(or death?), thoug I am more than adequately skilled in those areas, moreover my customer service skills have always afforded me a certain amount of leeway with my 'work'...
I mean that if a manager sees that I create a wicked rapport with customers AND can equal or better the fellow fishmen's skills then I have been left alone to write my poems, properly create afootball team, and generally just play and luagh with anyone who comes to the counter...
I just enjoy customer service positions where I get to be Myself I guess..and the jobs I have tried where I am not expected or allowed to be mySelf, dont often last longer than 2 days, or even a morning as was the case with my illfated attempt to become a traffic warden...
(my current job is an exception to the tried and tested 'if i cant be Dan, then i am leaving' method, but anyone who lives in the UK knows that only a fool would return to the UK with 0 pounds if there was a chance of returning with a 1000 pounds at the cost of working like a cyborg for 5/ every 7 days)
no doubt i will be selling fish for a good few years yet, but I am writing regularly so I can dream and will try for some form of $$$ for words work, when my writing has improved a little...

I work customer service in a call center for an office supplies company. Pay is okay, and I have full benefits. So it's better than a swift kick to the balls every single morning that you wake up.
What I'd love to be doing is working in the music industry. Either writing, playing, recording, producing...whatever. Ideally I'd like to be in a fairly successful band that tours the world and has thousands of fans.
Ahhh, only in my dreams.

I have that same dream, but I just don't have time for a band.
Another thing I would like to do is open up my own bar and have a business.
