i dont think it can be grasped or comprehended but i like to believe that there is some universal form of justice. maybe its just me hoping that the world is fairer than it actually is, but i think things are interconnected and i think somewhere along the line there is a balance and that balance and what i consider 'karma'.

Mr Rotten Treats wrote:If you believe in karma and go to heaven, 50 million African hunger victims will stomp your teeth out.

Seriously, this karma thing is some fucked up New Age bullshit made up to get people to be nice to eachother. How can you sit there and say you believe in karma and keep a straight face? You should pick a random sweatshop slave or African aids baby off the street and ask him he believes in karma. Not only will he laugh at the daft cunt asking him the question, he will also piss in your mouth and yell "Here's your karma, you fucker!". Or at least he should, and he would have every right to do it, too.

God damned hippies.

Survey says, at least 17 people on Weedguru need a wake-up call and a kick in the nuts/face.

You're the only one that needs to get a mouthful of piss Mr. Rotten Treats. The only thing you accomplish by calling other people idiots, especially here, is making an idiot of yourself.

I believe in Karma, and that doesn't make me any less intelligent than anyone on this world. It's not anything "new-age" by the way. Karma has existed as an explanation for natural/universal law for millenias before your parents' conception.

The word Karma, translated, means "to do" or "action". All Karma is, is simply an explanation of "cause and effect". When we do something, that something is inherently good or inherently bad. When other people pick up on these actions they're forced to make an internal decision to act or not act upon this recieved action.

The simple law of Karma, is that for every event that occurs, there will be another event to follows which was caused by the first, and so on and so on. The old phrase, "You reap what you sew" is a good analogy for Karma. If the intial action was a positive or good action, more positive and good actions are likely to follow. Vice versa this would happen with negative or bad or evil actions.

The trick to understanding Karma, lies in Dharma (yes probably something not many people have heard of, or think is hogwash blah blah whatever), or what could be called the universal synchronicity, the pulse of the earth the cosmos, the human heart etc, these are all analogous. It's the concept that there are no persons, and henceforth there is no-self and no-others. Once that has been established there can be no reference to pain felt, it's neither felt in oneself or felt from another, when it's there it's simply felt. The same applies to other feelings like joy. Initially when one feels something like joy or pain the reaction is to either cultivate that feeling, or quell it.

The urge to quell pain and cultivate joy can be considered ethical, the qualities of a positive person.
the urge to quell joy and cultivate pain can be considered unethical, or the qualities of a negative person.

Karma is the definition of how these decisions to quell or cultivate certain events, create other events in turn which create more events. The cycle is everlasting, yet the events themselves are not. Once they have been commited they fade away but their reprucussions echoe forever. They can be balanced out though, because there is an infinte number of causes and effects yet to have taken place, and one can change his ways. I'm not saying everyone is redeemable because that's not true, but the potential for redemption is ever present.

As to all the starving kids in Africa, I do believe it is Karma in effect. Sure these kids haven't done much wrong, they've probably been very good, and haven't any reason to be reaping the fruits of evil deeds which they did not sew. I believe it has to do with the way humankind is destroying the earth, and sucking it's energy dry. Africa is in many ways the heart where humanity was born, it could be considered as primordial, and because we're extracting all these energies from the planet it is having severe effects on this part of the land which has been forgotten and left for destitute. It's not the kids' fault their starving, it's the many people creating bad karma and sewing evilness into this world, and the ripples of that are affecting otheres in horrible ways. There is an imbalance in good and evil because people can't come to the realization that there is no difference between the self and others, because there is neither. THere is only no-self and no-others, in which everyone feels the same feelings, those universal feelings. But unfortunately there is much evil Karma being projected onto the innocent, because of that failure in realization. We;re in chaotic times right now, much negative energy has been put forward within the last few centuries of our existence and it is manifesting itself in brutal ways.

So that's Karma for you.

Peace~

You sound like you need to take the blue pill, my man, because you're living in higher spheres.

So your idea of karma boils down to "You reap what you sew". Excellent, now let's try and apply that idea to the actual world, both in the past and today.

The West (Europe and North America mostly) have been sowing death, disease, war and famine across the world ever since the start of the colonization. The West has reaped mostly trillions of dollars and a standard of living most other people can only dream of. Meanwhile, their victims are living in poverty, suffering from the disease, war and famine sewn by the West.

Going even further back in time, to the Romans. The Romans started out as a small tribe somewhere in the arse end of modern Italy. Through brutal conquering they managed to expand their empire to most of Europe, part of the British Isles, the northern shores of Africa and parts of Arabia. When visited by the Romans, you had two choices: surrender, or be destroyed.

Next example, Macedonia under Alexander the Great. Same story as the Romans, a small nation that, through brutal conquering, built an empire ranging from Greece to India.

The Mongols, same story. Brutal conquering, huge empire.

Ottoman empire, same story. Saracens, same story. Nazis, same story. The strong picking on the weak to enrich themselves. Most of these realms lasted for centuries, until eventually, they were destroyed by an even stronger opponent, and the cycle repeats itself. That may seem like karma to you, seeings the conquerors are being conquered, but it's really just a clear cut case of survival of the strongest. The strong will flourish, until the stronger show up, and then the stronger will flourish, until the even stronger show up.

Ever seen that episode of the Simpsons where they go and take back the lemon tree that was stolen? There's a small kid making lemonade, and Martin Prince goes up, grabs him by the collar and threatens him. The small kid's brother shows up, grabs Martin by the collar and threatens him. Nelson Muntz shows up, grabs the big brother by the collar and threatens him. That, my friend, is how the universe works.

Here's a universal law for you: "The strong will always take advantage of the weak." Not to sound pompous, but my universal law kicks your universal law's ASS.

i dont really have anything to say but i just want to comment that the majority of the conquering civilizations came to an end in the same way that they live, bloodshed. as for all the abuse thats going on know...no one know what is going to happen and its a scary thought to thinkwhat lies in the future.

Live by the sword die by the sword. Your "universal law" has it's points, but you're lacking in the clarity of your vision. It's is the nature of man to take advantage of the weak. It is the nature of nature to balance all things. Karma is not a mysterious force that brings justice to the whole world. No. It's simply the effects of causal forces.

It's not even as simple as you punch buddy in the nose, buddy gets angry and punches you back, you kill buddy, years later you feel remorse and guilt. It doesn't even have to stick and linger around you. It could leave you forever and you could feel fine with no effects of Karma until way later in life or until your unlife.

As for Europeans spreading disease and such? Most of the Europeans that moved to North America here have terrible health, and more than half of them are habitually addicted to tobacco and millions die from cancer every year. Karma for you? Maybe, maybe it's just coincidence. Maybe it's just the strong taking advantage of the weak?

How can you disagree with the saying what goes around comes around anyways? Cause that's basically Karma. If you're an evil person evil things will be drawn to you, there's no doubt. You're not going to be praised for raping your dead grandmother, unless you were surrounded by a cult of necrophiliacs deeply satisfied with familial insest.

And out of curiosity, what would you have to see to believe that Karma exists Treats? Would you have to see all the evil in this world instantly dissipated? Or all the bad people to suddenly be scarred and boiled, and uprooted out right? Cause that's not how things work. If there was a sudden miraculous happenings like that would be akin to God taking his hand and wiping the chalkboard clean of all errors. But it's these errors that allow man to evolve (or devolve in some cases) and learn to grow in new directions. Should God fix everything himself, man would cease to evolve and grow. Man would become stagnant and eventually fade out of existence like the dinosaurs.

Bad things happen to innocent people sometime, and good things happen to guilty people sometimes. I broke my arm when I was 5 and I'm sure I didn't do anything to deserve it but it happened. Just like that little african boy who was shot in the head by his neighboring tribes new AK-47 militia.

And if you can't accept my definition of Karma, google it. Maybe you can enlighten yourself to other modes of thinking.

Peace~
