God I love good jazz its like sex. Miles Davis, John Coltrane or the likes of just makes my day.
Gaz- My ex plays bass guitar and switched over to double bass pretty easy for some jazz stuff. Good luck in finding a cheap double bass though. A good one would run you well over $1000. My violin alone is around $1500
Maybe you could find a place that rents them? Just make monthly payments so if it doesn't work out your not stuck with a bass.
