Post by MOT »

Ive been lookin at a map. It shows where Alaska is, buts it seperate from the states. If you wanted to drive there you must have to go through Canada, do you have to show passports and shit, or is there a direct road link.
This is how bored and stoned i am!

You don't need a passport to cross the border to Canada...yet. But have heard they will be implenting it sometime soon.

And yes you have to go through Canada, unless you take a boat from the otherside of the world over.

I was in Alaska for two months last summer. I'll I can say is that this was the most beautiful place that I have ever been to. The drive up there takes a while though all the way through Canada, but its a really nice drive. As for border crossing we had to wait for a while on the way into Cananda, but getting into Alaska from Canada and back into Canada from Alaska we never even got checked out.

O and politics were saying that bye the year 2008 Passports are gonna be required to get in and out of Canada.... How retarded is that?

Yea but this is just throwing a brick in the whole free trade agreement between North America. I just dont understand how Canada or Mexico could piss us off enough to make us require passports............Maybe we pissed them off that wouldnt suprise me any.

You dont actually need a passport to travel ANYWERE. Its just fuckin hard if you dont have one. You need so much ID and they have to run check ups on you etc..... More hassle than its worth.

According to information provided by foreign embassies as of April 2001, the following countries do not require a U.S. passport for tourist entry by a U.S. citizen:

* Antigua and Barbuda
* Aruba
* The Bahamas
* Bermuda
* The British Virgin Islands (islands include Anegada, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda)
* The British West Indies (islands include Anguilla, Montserrat, Cayman Islands, Turks, and Caicos)
* Canada
* Costa Rica
* Dominica
* The Dominican Republic
* The Federated States of Micronesia (islands include Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnei, and Yap)
* Grenada
* Jamaica
* Mexico
* The Netherlands Antilles (islands include Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, Statia, and Saint Maarten)
* Panama
* The Republic of Palau
* Saint Kitts and Nevis
* Saint Lucia
* Saint Pierre and Miquelon Island
* Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

While Costa Rica does not require a passport for adults, visitors under the age of 16 need a valid passport to enter the country.

To enter these countries, you will need documents that prove your U.S. citizenship and identity. Usually, you can use your certified birth certificate and your valid driver's license, but always check with a country's consulate first to verify what documents will be accepted at the border crossing.

While it may seem like a hassle to get a passport, it's still the most widely accepted form of international identification. As the State Department points out, "A valid U.S. passport is the best documentation available and unquestionably proves your U.S. citizenship." In our world-travel experience, we have to agree.
